Whistler Team Barbados Win St. Martin Regatta

January 2020 is off to a thrilling start with everyone setting sail for Barbados and the kickoff of the 2020 Caribbean sailing race season.

Attracting top competitors and recreational sailors from across the world, the Round Barbados Sailing Week (January 17th – 23rd,2020) promises to be bigger and better than ever, with particular emphasis on the headlining event, the 60 nm Mount Gay Round Barbados Race.

This the event that sailors and bystanders alike most look forward to, confirms Richard Eames, Managing Director of Island Villas and avid sailor, “especially as crews have the chance to win the skipper’s weight in rum!”

This unique reward is given to the lucky crew that breaks any of the longstanding event records. This year there will be an additional record added to the twenty on the table as for the first time in years, fleets will be tracked anti-clockwise.

Come to Round Barbados Sailing Week and find out! Book a trip through the Concierge and ask about the Mount Gay spectator buses to take you to the best vantage points (and rum shops) to see the race.

What better way to start the year than in Barbados, the birthplace of rum and one of the world’s top sailing destinations.
