First, on behalf of the Island Villas family, we wish everyone affected by Hurricane Sandy all the best – our hearts go out to you at this time. From our neighbours in Jamaica and Haiti, to further away in the USA and Canada, we are thinking of you.

Here in the Caribbean, we are quite familiar with tropical storms and hurricanes. Being the most Easterly of the Caribbean islands, Barbados is considered a ‘safe haven’ as most storms usually dissipate or pass us by. This does not mean, however, that we are not prepared. Most of the luxury villas, budget and five star hotels, cottages and properties for rent or sale in Barbados, have been built to withstand high winds and rain. The local authorities and the public are very proactive in preparing for any potential adverse weather and preparedness tips are shared over the radio, television etc.
