Big Game Fishing

The fishing season in Barbados runs from December to April when all the main species such as Wahoo, Dorado, White and Blue Marlin, Sailfish, Yellow and Black fin Tuna are available. The Marlin pass the island in September/October when there is a small run of these fish but if you are seriously after Marlin, the best months are February, March and April.

Some Wahoo, Barracuda, Dolphin, Marlin and Sailfish are in our waters all year. The Tuna are usually caught in the winter months. It is our policy to tag and release all billfish, but we will kill an occasional fish that is considered to have a very poor chance of survival. Most tropical species of shark are also available year round.

We have over 400 feet of water within three quarters of a mile of the shore, so very little time is lost steaming to distant waters, the 1,500 feet contour is as close as 3 miles! We have one major offshore structure which rises from over 600 feet to 140 feet which provides most species and is only 15 minutes from port. We fish mainly the south and west coasts as these have deep structure close inshore. The West Coast is always protected from the prevailing easterly trade winds and is ideal for those with poor sea legs.
